Respect for our environment is as much a part of our DNA as is technological innovation. We extend this passion to encompass all areas of our global business - even our suppliers and their practices stand within our environmental responsibility. Our Eco Balance approach to people, the planet and profits ensures our sustainable business model is continuously improved to support our business and environmental objectives.
RICOH is committed to reducing CO2 emissions from its business processes by 88% by 2050 (compared to 2000 results) with an interim target of 30% by 2030. The original target to reduce emissions by 20% by 2010 was achieved six months early. Our global CO2 footprint has reduced by 45000 tonnes since 2007.
By introducing our Chemical Substance Management System (CSMS) in 1993 and our subsequent CSMS for Suppliers in 2006, RICOH ensures that we exceed all European and global legislation requirements for the use of certain substances. All our products are RoHS and REACH compliant and contain no hazardous substances.
Since the introduction of our New Environmental Accounting System (NEAS) in 1999, RICOH has measured and monitored all costs and benefits from its environmental activities and this now represents a key area for the reduction of costs and the management of significant indirect revenue.
Our Green Procurement Policies and Supplier Partnership schemes ensure we support and manage all life cycle impacts into the business.
Reduce, Reuse and Recycle represents the fundamental message for resource conservation, and our recycling programs for toner cartridges and end of life equipment ensure we maximise this opportunity as well as comply with all relevant legislation.
We are committed to reducing environmental impacts at all stages of our product life cycle including helping and guiding our Customers to reduce the "in-house" impacts of their document management during the "in-use" phase.
As part of our RICOH GOLD Service Accreditation, reducing our Environmental impact has a major bearing on our success or failure to achieve RICOH's exacting standards. We at TBG have taken their lead, and implemented many new processes, from collecting spent toner cartridges, reconditioning previously enjoyed devices, the safe disposal of old devices to minimise landfill, to the recycling of new machine packaging. More information is available from TBG should you require.
